A series of new substituted diphenylquinolines and acenaphtho[1,2-]quinolines was prepared in good yields according to a two-step synthesis using the TDAE methodology from substituted -nitrobenzyl chlorides and α-diketones followed by a reduction-cyclization-dehydration step.
